CONFLICT AND NEGOTIATION
Conflict in couples leads to health problems for partners and children.
The areas of conflict affect all the listed components of the couple's structure:
- Power: Considering responsibilities: who gets things done and who decides what needs to be done. These decisions cover such fundamental aspects as: Finances, childcare, social relationships, etc.
- Privacy: Intimacy is built with a separation from the family of origin, giving priority to the other in self-revelation and decision-making. This is why one of the most contentious issues is the relationship with the family of origin,
- Passion, affection, sexuality: Love is replacing infatuation, the initial passion is giving way to intimacy and affection, but this does not mean that the attraction felt for the other as a sexual object and subject can be lost.
- Communication: When conflicts occur and become entrenched, communication patterns are produced that perpetuate the problem and eventually lead to separation.
